Maize: Mysteries of an Ancient Grain

In collaboration with the Paleontological Research Institute's Museum of the Earth, we developed a traveling science museum exhibit exploring the science of why maize has been an important crop for thousands of years.

The exhibit is mobile and has traveled around the U.S.

See its current schedule here.

If you are interested in the museum traveling to a locale near you, contact Beth Stricker

The exhibit consists of two 15' S-shaped panels, 4 interactives, 10 scientist biography panels, title panel, and items for cases.

Panzea was funded by the National Science Foundation, Plant Genome Research Project, award #1238014: “The Biology of Rare Alleles in Maize and Its Wild Relatives”; the research groups on this project were also supported by the USDA-ARS, their home institutions, and/or various other sources of funding.
